Toggle Lights help communicate the safety and progress of the loading/unloading process. The system utilizes one outside light and one inside light that interchange between green and red. While the loading/unloading process is underway, the outside light flashes red while the inside light flashes green. This tells drivers not to move or pull away from the loading dock. When the process is complete, the dock attendant then flips the toggle switch to change the lights - red flashing on the inside light and green flashing on the outside light. The driver then knows that it is safe to pull away from the dock.
